Hand-building Area
Hand-building needs room to move. We set aside a dedicated zone away from the wheels, so you can work in a quieter space without the noise and pace of throwing.
It is calm here, with music playing — settle in and follow your ideas: rolling slabs, building coils, scoring and slipping, refining rims, adjusting forms… slow and steady until the piece feels right.
There is plenty of shared shelf space to store works-in-progress between sessions. We also have damp boxes to keep leftover clay or half-finished pieces moist, so you can pick up where you left off next time.
Basic communal hand-building tools are on hand (ribs, trimming tools, needles, sponges…) — enough for standard techniques. Each booking includes 2kg of clay; let us know if you need more and we will charge a small extra fee.
Basic underglazes are available for decorating. Firing is priced per piece depending on size; leave your finished work with us and we will inspect and quote before firing.
